Top 5 Must Reads for September

I love a good book any time of year but theres something about being tucked up with a good book when its starting to get a little colder outside. If you know me, you know I'm a bit of a book worm so I thought I'd share some of my favourite books and ones I think are perfect for this time of year!
The Secret Life of Bletchley Park - Sinclair McKay
Genre: History/ Second World War
Now I'm sure at some point you will have heard about Alan Turing & Enigma during the war, but what about all those other people that worked in the involvement of breaking enigma. Bletchley park was housed to mathematicians, government officials and even children aged as young as 14. These people we're scouted by the SIS and recruited to help break the German cypher Enigma.
Mckay interviewed surviving codebreakers to find out what life was like at Bletchley Park during the war. This book delves into the working life but also the people themselves that we're behind the incredible effort of WWII.

The Night Book - Richard Madeley
Genre: Thriller/Fiction
Richard is always known as 'Richard & Judy' so you really underestimate him as an author. I first discovered 'The Night Book' about 4 years ago and it's one of those books I'll keep picking up to read. This story is based in the summer of 1976 in the Lake District where a drowning happens. What if someone wanted to take revenger? to remove an abusive, controlling partner from their life? when and where better to stage a murder and pass it off as an accidental drowning? Meriel writes all of this in her diary, her night book...
This is a definite page turner, if you're anything like me you will not want to put this book down.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
Genre: Modern Fiction/Romance
We've all seen the movie and I love the book as much. It is the perfect coming-of-age story that at some point everyone can relate to. The story follows Charlie who is a troubled kid trying to fit in but constantly lives on the sidelines. He navigates his way through freshman year with the world of first dates and mix-tapes, family drama and new friends; the world of sex, drugs & The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the end all it takes is the perfect song on the perfect drive to feel infinite. You will laugh with this book, you will cry with this book & I will never not love my favourite quote: and in that moment, I swear we were infinite.

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Genre: Classic Fiction
Elizabeth Bennet is a bright, attractive young lady but has a lot against her, Meeting the ever-so charming Mr Bingley and his arrogant friend Mr Darcy everything is thrown upside down. It very cleverly shows us the foolishness of judging by first impressions and explores the friendships, gossip & snobberies of middle-class life. This is honestly one of my favourite classic novels. I'm sure you will have probably came across Jane Austen doing English Lit at school but I highly recommend picking her novels up, as this is one of the greatest English romance novels.

The Valkyries - Paulo Coelho
Genre: Modern Fiction
This is a modern-day adventure of Paulo's supernatural encounter with angels who appear as warrior women riding motorcycles through the Mojave desert. It shows the battle of self doubt and fear as well as people striving trying to underwent one another through adversity. This book is quite an eye opener and is the perfect read for young and old alike. He writes very poetically but it's the message behind the novel is what got my hooked. It's my first book I've read by Coelho, but I'll definitely be looking at some more of his stuff in the future.

Is there any books you love at the moment? Or something perfect for this time of year??
