Pear & Blackberry Crumble / Recipe

As much as I have loved summer it makes me so much happier that we're finally coming into autumn. Being able to wear big baggy jumpers, good warming food && the best time of year for films. What's not to love about this time of year?!?!
I love it even more when I can get in the kitchen and start making some good old fashion comfort food. So over the next few months there will be loads of tasty treats up on my blog.
Everyone has grown up eating some form of crumble in their childhood, wether that was apple crumble and custard school dinners or your grans rhubarb crumble. So I think what better way to kickstart autumn cooking with a warming pear and blackberry crumble.
Over here in the UK blackberries peak in august and stay until around November time so it's peak season for the fruit & so easy to access. Sometimes found to be quite sharp, this recipe sweetens them down and you'll love them! You can make this as one large dish or individual ones. I prefer to do individual ones using four ovenproof dishes.

What you'll need:
4 large English Pears, cubed
100g golden granulated sugar
250g blackberries
200g plain flour
100g unsalted butter, cold & cubed
100g demerera sugar

recipe:
1// heat over 190c/gas 5. Put pears in medium pan, add granulated sugar and cook on medium heat until starts to soften/release juices (approx. 10 mins)
2// add blackberries and cook for a few minutes ( your juice should turn a lovely shade of pink!)
3//spoon fruit into four ovenproof ramekins and put to one side.
4// place flour, butter & pinch of salt into bowl & rub until the mixture resembles course breadcrumbs. Add dememera sugar & combine
5// Cover the fruit with the crumbs and bake for 20/25 minutes until golden.
6// Once cooked, remove from oven and let them cool slightly. Serve alone or with some ice cream!
It is honestly that simple! Obviously you could swap the fruit for rhubarb or apple or whatever tickles your fancy.
Let me know if you make this recipe? Also do you have custard or ice cream with crumble???
